Who We Are
Mission Statement
Michigan State University’s Literacy Achievement Research Center (LARC) LARC is one of the largest institutionally-based communities of literacy researchers in the world. LARC brings together scholars with a range of theoretical orientations, research foci, and methodological and substantive expertise, which represent the multi-disciplinary nature of literacy education. These scholars share a commitment to increasing literacy achievement in the U.S. and the world. Our mission is to advance knowledge related to literacy achievement. Specifically, we -
- Research pressing problems in literacy education,
- Synthesize research related to literacy,
- Shape national research agendas in literacy education,
- Disseminate research on literacy education to key stakeholders including teachers, teacher educators, researchers, and policymakers, and
- Develop a new generation of more skilled, more responsive literacy researchers.
